Thanksgiving Holiday Traditions

The holidays are right around the corner! Thanksgiving and all its traditions will be here next week. I have been following my own advice from last week's blogpost and decluttering any extra items laying around. I have also planned out our holiday menu and started shopping for some of the ingredients. One thing we always buy fresh is the turkey which my husband likes to put on a smoker around 6:00am and cook until lunchtime. I am all for that because it frees me up to focus on preparing the sides and watch some of the Macy's day parade which is still on this year!

My favorite part of the day (aside from eating of course) is decorating the table for our meal. I never know what I'm going to do from year to year and that's half the fun. This year it's just the 3 of us so it will be simple, but my daughter and I will definitely head out to search for pine cones, berries and anything that catches our eye. Candles, twinkling lights, silver and who knows what we'll come up with! I enjoy watching her excitement and placing things in just the right spot like someone else I know.

Another fun tradition we do, because you know once you've done it once, it has to happen every year lol... is making Giada de Laurentiis's Oreo turkeys. They really are yummy and a lot of fun to do with the kiddos. We tweak ours from year to year based on whatever halloween candy we have leftover, but the gist of it is putting together oreos, mini reeces cups, candy corns and malt balls. We also cheat with tubed cookie icing to stick things together and to make the little red goozle and beak. You can find Giada's recipe right here.

In addition to all the holiday food and fun, we really have a lot to be grateful for this year. I am grateful for family and friends, grateful for our health, grateful for our teachers, grateful for our healthcare workers and grateful that a new year is almost upon us. I am also so grateful for a growing business that empowers moms all over to connect and share their journey of creating their dream kitchens. If you'd like to join us, you can find my FB group at Kitchen, Baths and Mudrooms by Design. We've grown to 100 members already!

If you are planning on designing your own kitchen, you are welcome to grab my Free Guide while it's available to help learn how! I wish all of you a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!
