Overcome Your Kitchen Design Fears

If you‘re dreaming of a new kitchen but the thought of taking on a permanent design challenge keeps you stuck mama, this blogpost is for you! Beautiful kitchens are in high demand these days, especially with spending so much time at home and cooking more than ever! And it's not just beautiful kitchens we want... but kitchens that maximize space, storage and organization. If your kitchen is in dire need of a remodel but you're not quite sure you're up for the task of being your own designer, I'm here to tell you YES YOU CAN!

You might be thinking, "But I have no idea how to design a kitchen!" The definition of a designer is a person who devises or executes designs, especially one who creates forms, structures and patterns. There is no line in Webster's that says you have to have a degree to design your own kitchen. With that said, you do want to have knowledge of what to do and when to do it because designing a kitchen is definitely a process and there is a method to the madness. What if you knew where to start, how to create a project budget, how to plan your project and all the steps to walk you through the entire kitchen design process...how would you feel then? What if I could teach YOU from all of my experience? Best news is ... I can!

Maybe you're thinking, "That sounds great, but where will I ever find the time to design my kitchen?" The truth is if you are designing your own project, you can take as much time as you need. I recommend working around 5 hours per week on your project. This could be 1 hour per day or a planned time on the weekend when your hubby is home and can watch the kids. If you're a mom who has a 9-5 outside the home, you could dedicate lunch hours or evenings when the kids are down to design your new kitchen. If you work at this pace, you can have your kitchen designed in as little as 12 weeks! If this sounds like a long time, you could certainly speed things up but most of us are busy and juggling a lot so I prefer slow and steady to win the race. Working ahead like this means you'll never get that dreaded call from a contractor saying he needs selections by next week because demo is starting....no pressure there...

You might also be thinking, "Me? Make my own design decisions? I don't feel confident in choosing my own colors and materials for something this expensive and permanent."

While it's true not everyone has a natural eye for color and design, I can teach you tips and tricks AND break it all down into a proven 10-step process. We cover it all! But for those of you who still need an expert design eye to review material selections, I’ve got you covered there too! Can‘t wait to share this big news!

Kitchen Design by Robin Johnson Interiors

You might be wondering, "But can I afford to remodel my kitchen? How much does it cost these days?" And while there is an average price range, my question for you is, how much do you love your kitchen? Are you ready to sell your house because you dislike your kitchen so much? And how much could you even sell your house for with a dated dysfunctional kitchen? Buyers want modern open concept kitchens that work and perform. If you plan on living in your house for at least another 5 years, now is the time. There's no joy in living through a remodel just to have to sell your house. Enjoy it now and get around an 85% return on your investment later!

So what's it going to take to get you from where you are today to living your best life in a beautiful new and improved kitchen?
