Fresh Laundry + Craft Room Design

You are going to love this design I just finished up for a new construction home! This project is one I've featured recently for the kitchen + scullery design in Wachesaw Plantation. In case you missed it, you can find that post here. Fingers crossed construction should get underway in May or June.

The homeowner loved her kitchen design so much she asked me to do her laundry room as well. It's a large room that sits across a hallway just off the kitchen. She not only envisioned this space for doing the family laundry with two washers and two dryers, but also to use as a multi-purpose room for school projects, wrapping gifts, an office space and last but not least a place to wash her dogs. Now that's what I call a work room!

She sent me a floorpan with all the dimensions and mentioned she wanted to stay in keeping with the modern coastal blue and white design theme that is going to rock the kitchen and scullery. Here is what I came up with.

The plan includes a double washer and dryer side by side with upper cabinets above. We chose to maximize this space for storage and put the laundry bar for hanging clothes to dry over the dog shower instead. It makes sense to have a place to catch the drips and will be helpful for throwing towels over when washing the pups.

A sink station is tucked into one corner while the dog shower is tucked in the other. I did a whole blogpost on the dog shower design a few weeks ago you can find here. The desk runs along the other main wall with plenty of cabinetry and open shelving for showcasing pretty things... and then there is the custom center island. I'll show you the 2D drawings here so you can see how it all looks.

Just a quick note on the island, the lower drawers will be 48" wide to accommodate wrapping paper rolls while the top two can store craft supplies. Also the cabinet maker will make a laundry chute door to match the perimeter white cabinets. The island will be a shade of navy. Here are the material selections for this amazing room that will serve many purposes.

Actual materials

Isn't it gorgeous??! I can't wait to see it all come together. You may recognize the Serena and Lilly Denim Feather wallpaper I used in a breakfast room on another project but it still one of my faves! The matte marble penny tile will go on the floor of the doe shower and the spa blue subway tile will run up the walls. White quartz countertops will be used on the island, desk and sink areas. Here's a 3D view to get an idea of what it will look like all though the lighting will be much improved :)

Have a great weekend and thanks for reading!
