Hello there! I'm super excited to finally share some stunning before and after pictures on the blog today of this beautiful project that is finally complete. This 5,000 square foot home is located in Litchfield Beach, one block off the ocean. Although the nearly the entire home underwent major renovations, my focus was on the kitchen, powder bath, primary bath, laundry room and flooring/paint throughout. I also helped with things like foyer molding, stairwell makeover and a few new doorways throughout the house.

Before Pictures

Here are some of the photos I took when I first visited the home of the original kitchen... it was dark and drab with modern box cabinets and not much personality. Excuse the boxes as the owner was already packing everything up for the renovation.

Before

Now if you followed me on social media highlighting some of the key updates we made, I'm highlighting them again because they were HUGE.

First of all, we removed a window in the kitchen, bricked it up and replaced it with a beautiful decorative range hood because it took up valuable cooking space and threw off the entire room's symmetry (see lower left photo below next to refrigerator).

The other big change was one the homeowner requested which could not have turned out any better. She wanted to convert the 2nd story exterior porch into a functional butler pantry which increased the footprint of the kitchen by about 30%. There are lots of porches on the front of the house facing the ocean and this porch offered little in the way of privacy with nearby neighbors.

Mid Construction

After demo took place, here's some photos during construction after the old kitchen was removed and the exterior porch was enclosed.

Construction

After 18 months of extensive construction, the homeowner is thrilled with the final results. The kitchen was designed around a La Cornue range in a french bistro style, hence the black and white theme. We added wood beams to the kitchen ceiling, used a thin brick paver as the backsplash on the coffee bar and included gorgeous arched pocket doors with seedy glass to enter the pantry. The quartz countertops are Le Blanc and add a soft texture on the island and range wall.

Semi-custom cabinets were used in this project and nearly all of the appliances were integrated with cabinetry to blend in. We added refrigeration drawers in the pantry to store fresh produce overflow. I also want to mention the fun Schumacher wallpaper we selected for the kitchen entrance hall and soon I'll share the powder bath makeover which is also amazing!
